Light fixtures are the easiest to replace and, if done correctly, they can transform your house. This is what we did as soon as we bought our house and we started with our dining room light.
Getting away from “builder grade”
Have you heard the term: “builder grade”? It pretty much means – just good enough to sell the house.
When we bought our house it was a classic builder grade, including our dining room light fixture.
The dinning room light fixture was too small for the space and wasn’t providing enough space or making a statement.
In our home, we spend lots of time in the kitchen, and the dinning room is what we see all day long, because it’s right next to it.
The transformation began with replacing the dining light
So we began by replacing the dining light fixture and removing the old blinds
By the way, another easy, but a noticeable update to your home would be replacing your “builder grade” halogen lights with LED and that’s what we did as well.
We then followed up hanging up curtains and adding a table, chairs and a rug.
That dinning light fixture update, inspired transformation of the entire room

The “After”
We choose a bigger size table to fill the room and a rug to give it a sense of being “grounded.”
Now the light and the table are proportional to the size of the room.
The room feels large, airy and inviting, just like I envisioned.
