What Undertones does Dover White have?

Even though the word “white” is in its name, Dover White has a yellow undertone and is creamy white.  The yellow undertone needs to be considered if you are planning to use it as the main color.

Is Dover White too warm? 

If you are worried that Dover White might be too warm for your space, it probably is. TIn that case, to stay on the safe side, I would recommend going with a cooler color.   An alternative cool white paint would be SW Greek Villa, SW Alabaster, or SW 7566 Westhighland White.  Those are still warm colors, but with fewer yellow undertones.

Recommended uses for Dover White

Because of its warm undertones, Dover White is a great choice for nurseries and kids’ rooms, no wonder it has been a part of kids’ related paint collections by Sherwin-Williams. 

SW Dover White would also work great in north-facing rooms. It would brighten up the north-facing rooms, due to its warm tones. 

What is the LRV of Dover White?

Dover White’s LRV (Light Reflectance Value) is 83, so it’s not one of the brighter white paint colors.   100 is the highest LRV. 

What are Dover White’s Complementary Colors?

Dover White will look great with SW 9023 Dakota Wheat and SW 9141 Waterloo.

Is Dover White good cabinet color?

Because of its creamy shade, I would recommend using it in warm, tropical zones, where there are a lot of sunny days.
