There’s a unique and special connection when constructing your own home and having the opportunity to witness or actively participate in the process. To add a personal touch and make it truly “your own,” consider inscribing Bible verses onto the studs before they are concealed by sheetrock. This simple yet meaningful act infuses your home with a sense of spirituality and adds a personalized touch to the very framework that will become the foundation of your living space.

Why write the scripture on the walls?

Writing down a scripture on the wall of your new construction is like writing your vision for your family and for how you want to spend your time in that space.
You might choose to write one verse per room, or you could try writing a few verses for each room and then choosing which ones you want to keep. The choice is yours.

Here are some scriptures that will help you build a home that will be a blessing to God and to those who live there.

Psalm 127:1-2 says, “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.” This means that if we don’t have the Lord’s guidance and direction, then our efforts won’t yield any results. We need His help to build a good home!

If you are looking for Bible verses for new home construction, I’ve created is a list of scripture for every room.

What is a good scripture for a house construction blessing?

There is no “right” or “wrong” scripture that you can use. You can use any Bible verse that speaks to your heart.
If you want to include a specific scripture, just write down what verse you would like to use and place it where you see fit.

What does blessing a house do?

Blessing a house sets a vision for your family and how you want to live in this house. It’s been 1.5 years since we moved in into our house and through joyful moments and the hardships we faced, those scriptures on the walls have kept me grounded.
My friend came to my house: wow, your house just feels so peaceful. And that was the best compliment she could have given me about my house.

Bible verses to bless each room of the house

Entry area blessing Bible verse

Proverbs 3:5 – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths”

Deuteronomy 28:6 – “You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.” is a great verse for the entry door. It reminds us that God’s blessing is with us whenever we go in or out.

Another one is: “The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep you safe. He will protect you as you come and go, now and forever.” Psalm 121:8

Luke 10:5 – “Peace be to this house” is another great verse for the entry area.

Jesus taught his disciples to use these words to greet a family as they entered the house.

How to keep your design cohesive when remodeling a home

Scripture for blessing a Living room

The living room (along with the kitchen) is where the family spends more of its time together.

Joshua 24:15 – “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”  is a great reminder of your decision for your family.

This Bible verse is also a great one to hang as art. Growing up, kids will be reading it to themselves a thousand times and it will be imprinted on their hearts.

John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Ephesians 5:27 – “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

This verse is perfect for the living room because it encourages us to forgive others. It also tells us to be kind and gentle towards them.

A Bible verse for blessing a home office

The home office is a space where we conduct our business, whether it relates to our home and family, or for our businesses and jobs.

Jeremiah 29:13 – “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Hebrews 3:4 – “For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God”.

Matthew 6:25 – “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; nor about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

This scripture is a great reminder to work hard and also trust in God to bring it all together to life.

Blessing for a kitchen

A kitchen is a very important part of any home. It is where most families spend time together as a family unit.

We want this space to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and at ease. A kitchen is a place where we prepare meals for ourselves and others.

Acts 2:46 – “They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.”

Matthew 6:11 – Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Luke 10:7 – And he said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

Bible verse for Guest bedroom

The guest bedroom is often used for overnight guests. This is a place where people can rest and relax. Hosting people in our home has been a special blessing and a privilege.  Over the years, we have hosted friends, family, and strangers alike. In the process, we have truly encountered Angeles.

In Luke 12:35 Jesus says, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something cool to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me into your home.”

This verse gives us an example of how we should treat guests. We should always invite them into our home and make sure they feel welcome. For that reason, having a dedicated guest bedroom was one of the requirements when we were looking for our current house.

Hebrews 13:2 – “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it. ”

Kids rooms scriptures

Writing scriptures for each kid’s room is a special way to write down your vision for their life. If they are older, you can also ask them to choose their favorite Bible verse and write it themselves.

Here are some of the Bible verses that could be used in the kids’ rooms:

John 8:32 – “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

Psalm 127:3 – Children are a gift from the Lord.

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 – “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, faith, in purity. Till I come, sanctify the day, and keep the hour.”

Numbers 6:24-26 – “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”

Joshua 1:9 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened or discouraged, for the Lord, your God is with you wherever you go.”

bible verse for blessing home

Proverbs 31 – “She is more precious than rubies. She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.”

You may also choose to take pictures of your kids next to “their” Bible verse so they see that it was actually written down for them and that you remember how small they were when you were building your house.

Master bedroom blessing scriptures

The master bedroom is usually reserved for the couple. It is a place where couples spend most of their time together. The bedroom is a sacred space which means that it should be treated as such.

We chose to use the following scriptures because they are about intimacy and commitment.

Matthew 19:5 – “For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and the two shall become one flesh.”

1 Corinthians 13 – “Love is patient, love is kind.”

Ephesians 5:21 – “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

Here is another great one:

Psalm 4:8 – “In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. ”

Loft/Family Room blessing scriptures

I imagine the loft will be a space where will be spending lots of time, playing, reading, and watching.

It should be a very cozy spot. We chose these scriptures because they talk about being at home and enjoying the company of others.

My vision for the space is James 1:19 – “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.”

Luke 12:37 – “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Colossians 3:17 – “Put on, therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man has a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so do ye also.”

Deck or outdoor area

Here are the scriptures that will be perfect for a deck/patio/outdoor area:

Jeremiah 29:5 – “Build homes and plan to stay. Plant gardens and eat the food they produce”

Imagine drinking coffee early in the mornings on your deck, remembering Lamentations 3:23 – “His mercies are new every morning”.

Or maybe having dinner outside while listening to some music?

Psalm 23:6 – “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”
